Auto text not working in Word
This Knowledge base article will assist you in when a client is using a Template (*.DOT) to create Auto Text when the press function 3 (F3) key. You will often receive the below popups. These popups will occur due to the Trust centre settings being incorrectly set up or left as default, which is off.
If the F3 key just doesn’t work at all it might be that the Template Add-In has been disabled.
Problems:
When Opening Word
NOTE: pressing open will allow the templates to run.
When opening a document in DMS
Solution:
Making changes to the Trust centre settings.
i. Open Options in word
a. In 2007 click on the Office button on the top left. Then click on Word Options.
b. In 2010 click on the File tab. Click Options

ii. In the Navigation Panel click on Trust Centre and then Trust Centre Settings
iii. In the Navigation Panel click on Trusted Locations, ensure that Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not recommended) is ticked.
iv. In the Navigation Panel click on ActiveX Settings, ensure that Enable all controls without restrictions and without prompting ….. is selected.
v. Also under Macro Settings ensure that Enable all Macros …… is selected. Then click on Ok.
Making sure the Add-ins are enabled
i. Open Options in word
a. In 2007 click on the Office button on the top left. Then click on Word Options.
b. In 2010 click on the File tab. Click Options

ii. In the Navigation Panel click Add-Ins. Select Templates from the Manage dropdown menu and click Go…
iii. Ensure that all the Templates that you require are checked in the Global templates and add-ins list. Click OK
Once this has all been done, close Word and reopen it and test the Auto Text.
